How to fold your pocket square like James Bond

GQ Hype’s series ‘Live like Bond’ explores the clothes, accessories and accoutrements used by James Bond that you can emulate in real life. This week, the question is: how do you fold a pocket square like James Bond?

When James Bond wears a pocket square, he tends to opt for a rectangular fold. This is of-a-piece with his personal style: dashing yet conservative. Sean Connery's Bond and Daniel Craig's Bond are notable fans. If you want to join them, here's how to fold yours...

  1. 1

Acquire a handkerchief. Linen or cotton is best for this type of fold, as you can get a nice crisp edge.

  2. 2

Fold the handkerchief in half horizontally.

  3. 3

Now fold it vertically either in half or into thirds depending on the size of the handkerchief. The goal is that it should end up the same width as your breast pocket.

  4. 4

Insert it into your breast pocket so about half an inch of handkerchief is on show. If it keeps falling too far into your pocket, remove it and adjust the height accordingly.
